With reporting deadlines looming for the Medicare Ground Ambulance Data Collection System (GADCS), it’s of vital importance to understand the new Medicare data reporting requirements and to have a plan in place to deal with them. ZOLL® Billing and RescueNet® Billing software features and functionality can help agencies to meet the requirements with minimal time and effort.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will now require that ambulance organizations collect and report on their operations, costs, and revenue utilization. CMS is gathering and compiling this information to ascertain how much it costs to run an EMS agency, in addition to how much EMS agencies are paid.
To that end, a series of additional reporting requirements now will be mandated for ground ambulance service. CMS will notify the EMS agencies that will be required to participate in this data collection program. (Of note, reporting will not be required for air ambulance service.)
The depth and breadth of these new reporting requirements may pose significant challenges in parsing the data required by Medicare. This CMS information-gathering initiative will require a more detailed level of reporting and could take considerable time away from current operational activities unless agencies devise efficient action plans for handling the new requirements.
EMS billers who will be responsible for researching and compiling the required data and uploading the information into an online CMS report form can leverage helpful functionality in ZOLL Billing and ZOLL RescueNet to ease the process and save time.
